Sheephaven divers were back in the water last weekend with a snorkel out from PortnaBlagh in quite challenging sea conditions.
An incoming Atlantic depression had kicked up a significant swell out to sea and its effects could felt even in the sheltered surrounds on this part of Sheephaven Bay.
Air temperature has dropped back and between that and the sea conditions, the in-water temperatures are now at 8 degrees Celsius.
Water visibility on the upper part of the water column is less than a metre while at the sea-bed five metres below, for those doing their free-dives, it was a little bit better.
For the Sunday mornings’ divers, their semi-dry dive suits are so good that the water temperature is not a deterrent to getting into the water and the 30-minute snorkel left both body and mind well refreshed for another winter week ahead.
