FORMER REPUBLIC of Ireland soccer star Shay Given was left fuming after a parcel arrived at his home at the weekend missing an item.
Given fumed when the company responsible told him that not only would it not be issuing a replacement – but they would no longer be accepting orders from his account.
The present had been intended for his young daughter.
Given tweeted a picture showing a damaged cardboard box – which appeared to have ben ripped opened – with the message: “My parcel arrived like this (for my daughter), customer care confirmed they would send a replacement for the £115 item missing and today I receive this.”
Online retailer ASOS, from whom Given made the purchase told the Lifford man in an email, which he posted an extract of: “After an assessment of your account, we’ve made the decision to not issue a replacement for your item.
“It’s very rare for items to go missing and ASOS have therefore made the decision to not accept any further orders from you.
“In order to take this further, we recommend contacting your payment provider to dispute any lost funds. Your payment provider may be in touch with ASOS and we’ll be able to provide information regarding your account to support their investigations.
“Once they’re happy this is a genuine claim, they may refund your account. In the event further orders are placed, they’ll be cancelled.
“Any returns will still be processed as normal and you’ll receive a notification once the return has reached our warehouse. As we’re unable to help you further with this, any emails received about this matter will be automatically closed down with no response.”
