SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Shauna McFadden came within a whisker of victory in her first senior race this afternoon.
The Letterkenny cyclist (pictured above, centre, in pink) finished second in the annual George Rooney Phoenix Grand Prix Sponsored by Portview Fit-out Ltd. on the Nutt’s Corner Circuit in Belfast.

McFadden is a member of Errigal Cycling Club and in December, she was signed up by the Nicolas Roche Performance Cycling Team on a two-year deal.
Today, experience won out and it was Katharine Smyth of Team Madigan who took the win closely followed by McFadden with Jane Millar of Bann Wheelers taking third.
