WITH NINE goals in four games, it’s fair to say that Shane McGinty hit the high notes with Institute FC in February.
The St Johnston man is back in his groove again and in flying form with the NIFL Championship side.
McGinty scored hat-tricks against Bangor and Knockbreda, one agianst Harland Wolff Welders and a brace against Lisburn Distillery.
The 21-year-old was presented with the Donegal Sport Hub Sports Person of the Month award, in association with Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure, for February in recognition of his exploits.

Also included are Paul Byrne, from the Radisson Blu Hotel, Letterkenny, Donegal Sport Hub’s main sponsor and Charlie Collins of Donegal Sport Hub.
“It’s been a great month for me and a great month for the team,” McGinty said.
“The chances fell to me and luckily I put them away. The pressure is on to keep the run going, but it’s all about getting the wins.
“I’m enjoying my football at the minute.”
McGinty’s progress has been stunted so much by injury set backs. His big trouble came in the form of symphysis pubis, affecting his hip and groin, on and off. He’s hurt his medial ligament in both knees.
Football is in the bloodlines for McGinty and sport runs in the family ways. Former Finn Harps star Maurice Toland is his uncle and Commonwealth Youth Games silver medallist Brett is his younger brother.
A Republic of Ireland international up to under-17 level, Shane has been on the books of Finn Harps, Sligo Rovers, Galway FC and Coleraine before signing for ‘Stute last summer.
