SHANE DUFFY’S eventful start to the season continued tonight – as he headed home the winner for Blackburn Rovers against Crewe Alexandra in the EFL Cup.
In a seven-goal thiller at Ewood Park, Duffy headed in seven minutes into extra time after a 3-3 draw.
Blackburn had been two down after goals by Billy Bingham and Chris Dagnall.
Owen Coyle’s Blackburn turned the game in their favour through goals by Hope Akpan, Scott Wharton and Craig Conway only for Dagnall to force extra time with a last-minute equaliser.

Duffy is Derry born, but qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his Letterkenny-born father Brian and a Raphoe native mother, Siobhan.
Last week, Duffy had a nightmare against Cardiff City, scoring two own goals and then being sent off in the 2-1 defeat, while he also netted an own goal against Wigan in the previous fixture.
