MONA McSarry finished seventh in the women’s 100m breaststroke final at the LEN European Aquatics Championships this evening.
McSharry, competing out of lane 7 in Budapest, touched the wall in 1:06.58.
Sweden’s Sophie Hansson took gold in 1:05.69 with Italians Arianna Castiglioni (1:06.13) and Martina Carraro (1:06.21) claiming the silver and bronze medals.
Yesterday, University of Tennessee student McSharry came through her semi-final in 1:06.42 – her second fastest ever time.
McSharry was the sixth fastest qualifier for the final having came through her heat in 1:06.97.
McSharry is already assured of a place at the Tokyo Olympics after getting through the Irish Olympic Team Trials last month.
Then, she lowered her PB to 1:06.29 after securing her spot on the plane with a 1:06.97 swim.
