SEAMUS SHARKEY says Limerick FC was ‘a good fit’ as he prepares to make his League of Ireland return.
The 25-year-old has spent time at Finn Harps and Derry City, while also having a spell at Lisburn Distillery.
Sharkey scored for Limerick – who Finn Harps defeated in the promotion-relegation play-off – in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Galway United.
Sharkey had been working in the Isle of Man when the chance came up and he impressed in his first outing against Cork City.
“Martin (Russell, the Limerick manager) was happy so he said for me to stay down,” Sharkey told Limerick FC’s official website.
“I’ve been training away with the boys and the facilities are unreal – they could compete with some of the Premier League teams. It’s a good fit for me.
“Martin has been explaining about a lot of stuff that is happening behind the scenes and it’s all good. I’m excited to get going.”
Sharkey, whose younger brother Declan is on Finn Harps’ books, will join Killybegs’ Shaun Kelly at Limerick.
Sharkey said: “When I was first talking about coming over, I spoke to Shaun and he said it was a good place. There is plenty of Premier League experience here so we should do well.”
