UNFORTUNATELY, IT’S A situation Seamus Coleman knows only too well.
Ten months haven passed since the Killybegs native suffered a leg break whilst captaining the Republic of Ireland against Wales in a World Cup qualifier last March at the Aviva Stadium.
Coleman, now 28, hasn’t played since that day but has returned to training with his club Everton.
Today, Coleman’s international teammate James McCarthy – the Scottish born grandson of Paddy Coyle, who hailed from Doire na Mainsear, Annagry – suffered a similar injury playing for Everton against West Bromwich Albion in an innocuous coming together with Salomon Rondon, who was reduced to tears following the incident.
McCarthy’s tibia and fibula, it was later confirmed, have been broken. Coleman immediately left his seat to be by the side of his friend.
Tags:Seamus Coleman appears to be leaving his seat in the directors’ box possibly going to wait for and be with his club and international team-mate. He of all people will know the pain McCarthy is in right now. #EFC
