Seamus Coleman is closing in on making a return from injury with Everton.
The Killybegs native has been out of action since suffering a horror double leg break while playing for the Republic of Ireland against Wales last March in a World Cup qualifier at the Aviva Stadium.
Everton and Ireland suffered in his absence.
Everton had a poor start to this season resulting in the sacking of Ronald Koeman, while Ireland were hammered 5-1 by Denmark in the World Cup play-off in Dublin.
New Toffees manager Sam Allardyce suggested today that Coleman isn’t far off now. The Irish captain is expected to be eased in with the Everton U23s before going back to the first team.
“Seamus Coleman has trained all week with the squad for the first time after his broken leg,” Allardyce said.
Everton have lost their last four and host West Brom this weekend at Goodison Park.
