Former Donegal manager Rory Gallagher began his tenure in charge of his native Fermanagh with a win over Monaghan last night.
Second-half goals from Conall Jones and Aidan Breen gave the Erne men a 2-11 to 0-12 win at Brewster Park.
Gallagher, who stepped down as the Donegal boss following July’s heavy qualifier loss to Galway in Sligo, took over his home county and could be encouraged by last night’s outing.
Next Wednesday, Gallagher and Fermanagh have a meeting with Donegal, while a clash with Queen’s is next up on Sunday.
Monaghan led at the break last night, but Fermanagh wasted no time in seizing control as Jones drove home just seconds into the new half.
When Breen hammered high to the Monaghan net, it was a four-point game and Fermanagh closed out well to win with five to spare.
