A WORKMANLIKE Aodh Ruadh proved too strong for Convoy this evening at Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh
Aodh Ruadh 1-12 Convoy 0-8
There was just two between the sides at the break, but Aodh Ruadh did up things somewhat in the second period to finish deserved winners, a smartly struck goal by Cian Rooney sealing the deal.
Although Joe McGill opened the scoring for Convoy, Aodh Ruadh led 0-4 to 0-1 by the midway point of the first half.
Convoy went 26 minutes without a score and there were only two points between them at half-time, Aodh Ruadh 0-5 to 0-3 in front.
It was tit-for-tat at the start of the second half and Jack Blake brought Convoy to within a point.
That score seemed to rouse Aodh Ruadh, with Conor Pattton, Phillip Patton and a wonderful score by Nathan Boyle steadying the home side.
With 16 minutes to go, Aodh Ruadh sealed the deal. Michael McKenna nicked a kick-out and he drove through before off-loading to Rooney whose left-footed shot beat John Patton.
