Ronan Curtis has retained his place in Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland squad to face Northern Ireland and Denmark in the next seven days.
The St Johnston man has had a week to remember following his inclusion in the international squad and his man of the match performance Portsmouth 4-0 win over Maidenhead in the FA Cup – his first appearance in the competition.
Curtis is among a host of young players to enter into O’Neill’s plans, with Teenage pair Caoimhin Kelleher and Michael Obafemi also making the cut.
Blackburn’s Derrick Williams misses out with a hamstring problem while Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark is the most high-profile absentee from the initial extended panel named last week.
Clark came on as a late substitute in Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
Sean McDermott, Greg Cunningham, Jimmy Dunne, Richie Towell and Ryan Manning have also been cut.
