RONAN Curtis was to the fore this evening as Portsmouth advanced in the FA Cup.
Pompey overcame Fleetwood Town 2-1 at Highbury Stadium to move into the fourth round.
James Bolton and John Marquis bagged the goals with a late strike by Conor McAleny scant consolation for Fleetwood.
It was from a Curtis cross that Kenny Jackett’s team opened the scoring on 66 minutes with Bolton bundling over the line.
Portsmouth doubled the lead when Marquis turned home at the far post.
Curtis has scored eight times in his last 11 matches and the St Johnston man has recaptured the scintillating form of his first season at Fratton Park.
Elsewhere, goalkeeper Conrad Logan was between the sticks for Mansfield, but they lost 1-0 to Grimsby Town in League Two. A Malvind Benning own goal was the key strike as ten-man Grimsby – who had Luke Waterfall sent off in the tenth minute – claimed a narrow win.
