Monaghan light-welterweight Aaron McKenna is to become a stablemate of Jason Quigley’s in Los Angeles.
The 18-year-old former European Schoolboy gold and European Junior silver medallist has been signed up by Golden Boy Promotions and will be managed by Sheer Sports Management; replicating the path trod by Quigley when he turned professional in 2014.
McKenna, an eight-time Irish champion from the Old School club in Smithborough, will work at IRON Gym in Santa Monica, the gym own by Sheer Sports boss Ken Sheer, under former heavyweight contender Courage Tshabalala.
McKenna joins Golden Boy’s stellar stable of now 76 boxers and becomes Ireland’s youngest pro.
