STEPHEN MCLAUGHLIN’S hot-streak in front of goal continued on Tuesday night night as Southend United won at Sheffield United in League One.
The former Derry City and Finn Harps winger bagged his third goal of the season in his side’s fine 3-0 win at Bramall Lane.
McLaughlin, from the Isle of Doagh, had already scored against Gillingham in the league and the EFL Cup this term.
A Jack O’Connell own goal set Southend on their way before McLaughlin had the simple task of tucking into an empty net following a defensive mix-up after a cross into the penalty area by Luke O’Neill just 13 minutes in.
[adrotate group=”46″]It was 3-0 to the visitors after only 15 minutes when former Republic of Ireland international pounced. Conrad Logan from Ramelton was Rochdale Town’s substitute goalkeeper in their 1-0 reversal at Port Vale.
Southend are 15th in League One with Rochdale some six places further back.
Then, in League Two, Stevenage are second from bottom following a 3-0 loss at Leyton Orient last night.
With his side three down at the interval, Gorman played the second 45 minutes.
