This year’s Run Donegal Women’s 5k looks set attract a record number of participants – if the early indications are anything to go by.
In the first 24 hours after registration opened at the Finn Valley Centre in Stranorlar last Wednesday, 150 entries were taken.
The organisers of the event, which takes place in Stranorlar on Sunday, April 8th, have announced that a registration night will be held in the Letterkenny Community Centre between 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm.
Race director, Grace Boyle, said that interest in the event is growing steadily.
“To have so many registered so early is great and would suggest we are going to have a big entry this year,” she commented.
“This is a women’s only event and we are asking women of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to come along and take part on the day,” she added.
Specially commissioned t-shirts will be presented to the first 600 entrants.
This year’s Run Donegal Women’s 5k will be held in memory of the late Lisa McGranaghan, a young mother of two from Castlefinn who died from cancer at the Donegal Hospice in 2018.
All proceeds from next month’s event will go to the Donegal Hospice.
