DEMPSEY MCGUIGAN broke his Donegal record for the hammer throw yesterday in America.
McGuigan (pictured above) was competing for University of Mississippi and threw 68.15 metres to win bronze in Alabama.
Last year, McGuigan broke the Donegal and Ulster hammer throw record when he threw 66.62 metres in Baton Rouge.
The Finn Valley AC man competed at the 2014 Commnwealth Games.
His brother, Fellan, smashed Texas Christian University’s hammer throw record yesterday, too. He broke the record by over 13 feet at the TCU Invitational.
MccGuigan’s mark of 201-2 (61.31m) topped Cameron Tabor’s 2014 record of 187-6 (57.15m). Both distances were met at home at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth.
