A FINN HARPS Under-19 player scored from the kick-off today in a 1-0 win over St Patrick’s Athletic.
Declan Sharkey (pictured above by Stephen Doherty) wasted no time in scoring what proved the only goal of the game, netting one of the quickest goals in history.
Sam Murphy took the tip-off to Sharkey, who let fly for a stunning goal that will go down in the history books.
The win gets Harps back to winning ways after they lost to Galway United during the week in the Enda McGuill Cup after extra time, but this win continues the good League form of Joe Boyle’s team.
Sharkey’s low effort flew to the net for a memorable goal for the Deele College student.
“I’ve tried it before and it didn’t work, but I just had a go today,” he said.
“Sam just knocked it over and I went for it.”
