SEAN DUNNION, the Donegal County Board Chairman, delivered one of the quotes of the week yesterday in Lifford.
Addressing a packed Council Chamber at the County House during a ceremony to accord Anthony Molloy, the former Donegal footballer, with the Freedom of Donegal, Dunnion spoke about the recent engagements of the Council Chairman, Councillor Ciaran Brogan.
At the end of May, Councillor Brogan hosted a Civic Reception for Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, who were on a whistle-stop visit to the county.
“That’s the Prince of Wales and the King of the Hills,” Dunnion remarked to Councillor Brogan, the out-going Chairman of the Council.
Molloy said he was ‘very honoured and humbled’ at becoming the seventh recipient of the Freedom of Donegal.
“1992 is synonymous with all the good things about the GAA,” said Fianna Fail Councillor Seamus Ó Domhnall, who is Donegal’s delegate to the Central Council of the GAA.

“That legend will live on.”
Those comments were echoed by Noel Jordan, a Sinn Fein Councillor, who added: “The memories of ’92 will linger on. There were great celebrations.
Anthony is a true gentleman and no-one deserves this award more.”
