THE ALL-COUNTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE got underway on Saturday with a number of notable performances.

Gavin McBride scored 1-7 for Gaoth Dobhair including an injury time penalty to seal a 3-14 to 3-14 draw with St Eunan’s on Sunday.
At Rosses Park, Dungloe started the season on a winning note when Ryan Greene struck five frees against last year’s league champions, St Michael’s, in a 2-11 to 1-5 win.
Brendan McNelis from Ardara showed nerves of steel to score a match-winning free from 45 metres in his team’s 0-9 to 1-5 victory over Glenswilly.
In Bundoran, Kilcar were 4-17 to 2-12 victors against their hosts on Sunday and Patrick McBrearty was in fine form, scoring 1-8 for the Martin McHugh managed team.
Pauric O’Donnell, the Naomh Columba goalkeeper, ensured his team won a close encounter against Four Masters 0-10 to 1-6. O’Donnell saved a Michael Doherty penalty.
