This week there were some impressive outings for both college, club and county so have a look at the options below, cast you vote below and then we’ll tell you on Friday evening who you chose to be the Anthony Conaghan Cars Player of the Week.
So here’s your options:
1 Geraldine McLaughlin (Termon and Letterkenny Institute of Technology)
Letterkenny Institute of Technology won the Donaghy Cup last Tuesday afternoon at UCD when they defeated IT Blanchardstown on a 4-15 to 3-15 scoreline. Termon’s Geraldine McLaughlin was practically unplayable in the colours of the LyIT side, who are managed by Eamon O’Boyle. A goal from McLaughlin after just 15 seconds set the tone and she went onto score a whopping 4-12.
2 Steve McDaid (Termon and Loreto Community School)
Loreto Community School Milford won an epic Corn MacNeasa final last week at Garvahey, the Tyrone GAA Centre of Excellence. The side managed by Oliver Walsh won an incredible final 9-18 to 8-6 against Cavan’s St Clare’s College, Ballyjamesduff. There were a number of standout performances on the day in the U-14B Ulster decider but none more so than Steve McDaid, who finished the day with 3-5 to his name.
3 Niall O’Donnell (St Eunan’s and Donegal minors)
The Donegal side managed by Shaun Paul Barrett overcame Monaghan in Clones on Saturday in the semi-final of the Ulster Minor League. It was a marathon encounter, with both teams popping over score and after score and things were in the balance for a long time. Eventually, it ended after extra-time with Donegal having won 0-23 to 0-21 thanks in no small part to the excellence of Niall O’Donnell, who scored 0-13, which included five from play.
4 Caolan McDermott (Burt and Donegal minor hurlers)
Like the footballers, Donegal minor hurlers defeated Monaghan last weekend. In their case it was on a comfortable 4-14 to 0-6 scoreline at MacCumhaill Park on Friday night, which was in the semi-final of the Ulster Shield. Caolan McDermott was in starring form with 2-8 for the side managed by Lorcan O’Toole ahead of their final against Tyrone on Friday at Celtic Park.
5 Stephen McBrearty (Kilcar)
Kilcar are motoring well in the AllSportStore.com All-County Football League Division 1 and on Sunday they posted their third win from four outings against an out-of-sorts and understrength Glenswilly. Pivotal to that 1-14 to 0-7 victory was Stephen McBrearty, whose strong running created a plethora of scoring chances for his team as well as scoring two points himself.
6 Stephen Mulligan (MacCumhaill’s)
Three players were in top-scoring form on Sunday at MacCumhaill Park, where the home side overcame St Naul’s on a 3-14 to 1-11 scoreline in the All-County Football League Division 2. Stephen Griffin scored 1-8 for the visitors, Darren O’Leary grabbed 2-2 for the hosts but the nominee this week is Stephen Mulligan, who scored a fantastic nine points for the Twin Towns based outfit.
7 Michael Carroll (Gaoth Dobhair)
Gaoth Dobhair sit on top of the All-County Football League Division 1 and were very impressive on Sunday as they hammered Ardara away from home 3-18 to 1-10.  Michael Carroll, last year’s county minor captain, scored 1-6 but even ignoring that credible total, was the bloodline upon which the Mageragallon side produced their 14-point win on the road.
8 Karl Lacey (Four Masters)
Four Masters won for the third time on the bounce in the All-County Football League Division 2 on Sunday, when they defeated Malin, who previously had a 100 per cent record, 1-12 to 0-8 in Donegal town. Known as one of the best defenders in the game with four All-Stars and the 2012 Footballer of the Year award, the decorated Lacey posted  a goal and two points to help his side continue their good recent form.
