It’s that time of the week again – time for you to vote for our latest Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub Sports Person of the Week, in association with O’Reilly’s Sportswear.
Jockey Dylan Browne-McMonagle and Termon footballer Jack Alcorn were the winners of the first two weeks’ awards.
Each weekly award winner will receive a kitbag, a jersey and a half-zip, supplied by O’Reilly’s.
The award winner will be chosen via a public vote from a shortlist selected by our panel.
O’Reilly’s Sportswear was founded in 2017 by well-known Twin Towns sporting brothers Steven and Martin O’Reilly.
Our poll closes at noon on Thursday.
Amber Barrett (Peamount United)
Milford’s Amber Barrett is a player in real form at the moment having netted a hat-trick in each of her last two games for Peamount United.
Having bagged a treble in the 9-1 win over Limerick, Barrett was at it again on Saturday in a 3-0 win over Cork City in the Continental Tyres Women’s National League.
Barrett scored twice in the first half and completed her hat-trick with a late penalty.
The Republic of Ireland international has now scored 13 goals for the season.
Sean Devenney (Oakleaf ABC)
Balkybofey youngster Sean Devenney boxes out of the Oakleaf ABC in Derry and was part of a select squad that traveled to Canada for two tournaments at the weekend.
At Niagra Falls on Friday night, Devenney defeated Tarza Crawford of Rochester in an 80-pounder contest. And at the ‘Banger in the Hangar’ on Sunday evening, Devenney followed it up with another win, his second of the weekend.
Marty Lynch (Milford AC)
Marty Lynch won the MAD (Milford And District) Adventure Race organised by the Moyle View Park Development Committee.
Lynch, from the Milford AC, led the way in a field of 149 competitors.
Lynch finished in 2 hours, 31 minutes and 45 seconds.
The course began with a 10k run, followed by a 2k kayak in Mulroy Bay, then a 43km cycle, which was broken up by a 3km trial run in Glenvar and concluded with a 1k run off the bike.
Geraldine McLaughlin (Donegal senior ladies)
The Donegal ladies had to work hard for a three-point win over Tipperary in Castlerea on Saturday in the TG4 All-Ireland SFC Group 1.
Termon star Geraldine McLaughlin was on fire for the Donegal side. In all, McLaughlin scored 12 points.
McLaughlin was subject to some serious close attention and was fouled consistently by Tipperary as they sought to stop her by any means possible.
But McLaughlin proved too hot to handle and hit 12 points, including five from play.
Michel Murphy (Donegal senior football team)
A ‘once-in-a-generation player’ was how Kevin McStay, the Roscommon manager, described Michael Murphy after his stunning display for Donegal in Saturday’s ‘Super 8’ clash with Roscommon in Dr Hyde Park.
Murphy helped himself to nine points as he tormented the Rossies.
It was one of his finest displays for Donegal on the occasion of his 140th game for the county and on his 60th Championship appearance.
Murphy was unplayable as he tore Roscommon asunder, setting up a titanic showdown with Tyrone in the process.
