Our poll closes at noon on Thursday.
Sabrina Barnett (Raphoe Hockey Club)
It has been some start to the campaign for Raphoe’s ladies – who won again on Saturday by beating Weston in the Irish Hockey Cup. Sabrina Barnett, their captain, hit one of the goals in a 6-0 win and the experience Barnett is, like her team, in an excellent spell of form.
Kevin Cassidy (Gaoth Dobhair)
As Gaoth Dobhair overcame Scotstown in Sunday’s Ulster Club SFC final in Omagh, Cassidy rolled back the years in some style. ‘Cass’ drove Gaoth Dobhair to victory with a performance of pure Gaeltacht granite. Cassidy has been reborn at full-forward and pointed the way for Mervyn O’Donnell’s men.
Nicole Gordon (LYIT)
Letterkenny IT overcame both UCD and the testing conditions last week to defeat UCD 2-1 in the Kelly Cup. Nicole Gordon scored the second LyIT goal and had an excellent game for Johnny Baird’s team. Later in the game, Gordon moved back to defence and helped shore things up as their fine season continued.
Kevin McBrearty (Lifford Celtic)
Lifford Celtic moved into contention again in Division 1 of the Donegal League at the weekend thanks to a 4-1 win over Ballybofey United. The border side were led by their excellent player-manager Kevin McBrearty, who turned in a super display. Was a rock for the 90 minutes at centre-back.
Padraig McGettigan (St Eunan’s minors)
St Eunan’s minors are into the last four in the Ulster Minor Club Football Tournament in Belfast after a win over Errigal Ciaran on Sunday. Padraig McGettigan scored 2-2 for the black and amber to book a semi-final spot.
Kevin McLaughlin (Glengad United)
With two minutes to go in extra time in Sunday’s FAI Junior Cup game at The Crua, Shane Byrne replaced goalkeeper Daniel Mularkey with Kevin McLaughlin. It was a roll of the dice by Byrne, but the change worked wonders as McLaughlin – a noted ‘keeper when it comes to spot kicks – saved to Geraldine’s penalties and Glengad advance.
