It could’ve been mistaken for the sound of festive sleigh bells, but the clang of countless medals that filled the air in the Mount Errigal Hotel as the Donegal Women’s League held their annual presentations.
Over 500 players, coaches and parents gathered in the Mount Errigal Hotel to celebrate another successful season for the women’s game in the county.
The Donegal Women’s League continues to go from strength-to-strength with new clubs Ballyraine and Milford having entered at Under-10 level in 2018.
Republic of Ireland senior international Amy Boyle-Carr – who played for Donegal Town and Lagan Harps in the Donegal Women’s League – was special guest for the function.
The Glenties woman has recently graduated into the ranks of Colin Bell’s Irish senior team.
Paddy Carr from the Ulster Schools committee was also in attendance.
The Donegal Women’s League U17s, who competed in the inaugural U17 Women’s National League, were honoured. Molly Page was named as the U17 Player of the Year while the Goal of the Season award went to Helena McGee, for a  cracking goal against Galway United.
The League Player of the Year awards went to Kilmacrennan Celtic’s Ciara McGarvey in the U16s; Erika Gallagher from Illistrin at U14; and the U12 Player of the Year was Orlagh Doherty of Lagan Harps.
