Peter O’Donnell has been appointed as the Ireland team manager for the forthcoming European Youth Championships.
The European Youth Championships are being held in Roseto deli Abruzzi, Italy from April 17-26 next.
Popular Raphoe ABC man O’Donnell, the President of the Donegal Boxing Board, has been Irish manager several times in the past.
“The honour of being appointed Irish team manager never gets any less,” O’Donnell said.
“It was a privilege to be selected to manage the Irish team for the trip to Italy. I had no hesitation in accepting the role when offered by Dominic O’Rourke, the IABA President.
“I am delighted and honoured again to lead an Irish team to European Championships.”
O’Donnell, most recently, was Irish team manager for the European Schoolboy Championships last year.
In 2015, O’Donnell managed an Irish team that returned three medals from the European Senior Elite Championships in Bulgaria. Michael Conlan (gold), Joe Ward (gold) and Dean Walsh (bronze) won the nuggets.
O’Donnell is a regular traveler across the world to big fights and next week will lead a delegation from Donegal to Quincy for Jason Quigley’s 14th pro fight against Daniel Rosario.
