Patsy McGonagle is to be inducted into the Ulster Athletics Hall of Fame.
Manager of the Irish Athletics team on 68 occasions – including at four Olympic Games – McGonagle will be honoured at the provincial body’s function on November 16th in Monaghan.
Only Jack Charlton and Eddie O’Sullivan have overseen Irish teams more than McGonagle, whose career also spanned six World Championships.
The Finn Valley AC man had 25 years in the role as Irish team manager and oversaw the winning of two Olympic medals, nine World Championship suggest and 27 European Championship medals.
McGonagle was the guest speaker earlier this year at Athletics Ireland’s Youth Star Awards and was recently elected as the new Chairperson of DLDC.
