Donegal corner-back Paddy McGrath is expected to be back playing before the end of the 2018 Allianz League campaign.
The Ardara man sustained a posterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for Ardara against Gaoth Dobhair in the Donegal SFC at the end of August.
McGrath missed his club’s relegation play-offs against Four Masters and Naomh Muire, but is said to be making good progress with his recovery.
Initially, medics feared that the teak-tough defender, an All-Ireland winner in 2012, had injured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and would require surgery.
McGrath still faces extensive rehabilitation, but is on track for a return towards the conclusion of the League.
“Paddy is making very good progress,” Donegal manager Declan Bonner said.
“Paddy is just a machine. The big thing with Paddy is he does everything the way it should be done and it’s all to a tee.
“Paddy will be able to play again before the end of the League.”
