FINN Valley AC’s Kelly brothers, John and James, took the top two places in the men’s shot put at the National Senior Indoor Championships today.
John Kelly won his second title with a best throw of 18.35 metres. The throw saw Kelly claim a new Ulster, Donegal and Finn Valley club record.
Kelly reached out to 18.35m with his first attempt of the day.
The St Johnston siblings have been in Iceland training with some of the world’s top throwers in recent times and the work is paying off.
James Kelly reached out to a best of 15.47m, which saw him beat Nenagh Olympic’s Sean Carolan to the silver medal.
Carolan took bronze (13.40m) with another Finn Valley AC man, Gavin McLaughlin, finishing fourth.
