THE FINN HARPS MANAGER, Ollie Horgan, is set to be handed a new contract for the 2017 season.
With Harps now almost guaranteed survival in the top flight after taking five points in three games during the last week, the Board of Directors are keen to tie Horgan down for next year.
While there has not been any formal announcement by the club, senior club sources have indicated to Donegal Sport Hub that the Galway native will be at the helm again for a fourth season.
Horgan had been a surprise appointment in November 2013 when he took over from Peter Hutton at a time when Harps were rooted in the First Division.
A schoolteacher at St Eunan’s College, Horgan beat off competition from the likes of Joe Boyle and Don O’Riordan to land a post he had long coveted from his time as the Fanad United manager.
Horgan’s Harps reached the FAI Cup semi-finals in 2014, but lost heavily, 6-1 against St Patrick’s Athletic.
Last year, Horgan took Harps out of the wilderness and back into the Premier Division, via a dramatic play-off win over Limerick FC and his team is almost assured of safety.
Sean Houston’s late equaliser against Pat’s last night secured a 1-1 draw that means Harps are nine points clear of Wexford Youths with just three games remaining.
