Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan fumed at the awarding of a penalty for St Patrick’s Athletic’s second goal last evening at Finn Park.
Conor Clifford’s earlier cracker had put Pat’s in front but, 21 minutes from the end, Keith Cowan was deemed to have fouled Gary Shaw. Referee Rob Rogers pointed to the spot and Mikey Drennan converted.
“The penalty? Lord save us and guard us, if it’s a penalty, it’s the softest penalty I’ve ever seen,” Horgan said.
“We will never get that in Dublin – and probably won’t in Ballybofey either.
“To be fair to the referee, he had the manners and respect to explain what he saw.
“He felt that it was a trip, that when Gary Shaw turned that he got his leg tangled and he (Cowan) tripped him.
“There was a handball at the other end that was a penalty for us. We needed that to go our way.”
