Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan insists UCD aren’t on his radar – yet!
A fortnight tomorrow, Harps – currently five points adrift of First Division leaders UCD – will face the Students at Belfield, but tomorrow they face Galway United on what could be a decisive night in the promotion charge.
UCD visit fourth-placed Drogheda United in a potential banana skin with Harps hosting Galway in Ballybofey.
Any slip by UCD could make for an interesting night in a couple of weeks – but Horgan says Harps can’t take their eye off the ball.
“Yes we have UCD on Friday fortnight in Belfield but our complete attention has been on Galway who have a huge amount of quality in terms of players with Premier Division experience,” Horgan said.
“They are coming here tomorrow night knowing that only a win will be any good to them in terms of getting into the play-offs.
“We have beaten them twice this season but only just. It was 1-0 in Ballybofey when Jesse Devers got a late goal and down there it was 2-1.
“This is without doubt our most important match of the season and hopefully the players realise that from the work myself and Paul Hegarty has done with them this week.
“Getting turned over by Galway would leave us in a very difficult situation of having to go and try get something from UCD who are the top team in the division.”
Harps welcome back central defender Sam Todd from suspension but Jacob Borg has emerged as a doubt. Mark Coyle continues to be troubled by an ongoing knee problem while Paddy McCourt has only resumed training in the past fortnight.
