Ollie Horgan has hit back at recent criticism of his Finn Harps, asking: ‘We have lost two games out of ten – is that terrible?’
Horgan’s Harps face top-of-the-table UCD in Ballybofey looking for a win that would narrow the gap to the Students to just four points heading to the mid-season break.
Recent defeats by Cobh Ramblers and Longford Town at Finn Park had left sections of the Harps support frustrated, but a 2-1 win over Galway United on Friday got Harps back to winning ways.
“We have lost two games in the last ten and that’s still not good enough for a small minority out there,” Horgan said.
“I don’t know what their expectation is, but it’s not realistic. We will do everything we can to get promotion, but a small minority out there aren’t rowing in behind us. We need them to.
“I have no problem with criticism. Believe you me, I’m well past the stage of what people think of me and I can speak for Paul Hegarty in that case too.
“If people pay in that gate to help keep the club alive, I’ll take whatever criticism is going. We have lost two games out of ten – is that terrible?”
