LIFFORD STRABANE AC’S BRENDAN O’DONNELL continued his excellent form at the weekend at the Ulster Schools Athletics finals in Antrim.
The St Eunan’s College student – who has thrown the European Youth Olympic Festival standard several times already this year – broke the Ulster Schools Intermediate Hammer record when winning that event with a throw of 66.84m.
It surpassed the old record of 63.17m held by Andrew Doyle since 2009.
Conor Breslin (Deele College) finished second in the same event with a throw just over 44m.

Olivia Cuskelly (Loreto Letterkenny) won the Junior Girls Hammer with 39.80m while Shane O’Donnell (St. Eunans) finished 3rd in Junior Boys Hammer with 27.46m.
Claudia Cuskelly (Loreto) dominated the Intermediate Girls Walk to take gold in a new best of 13 mins 20 seconds.
