GLENFIN WON FOR only the second time this year on Saturday night when they defeated their high-flying neighbours, Sean MacCumhaills, at Pairc Tabhoige.
Glenfin 0-15 Sean MacCumhaills 1-9
MacCumhaills entered the game as Division Two’s leaders, but they found themselves leapfrogged by Four Masters after this derby defeat.
Darren O’Leary netted in the 15th minute for MacCumhaills from a free after he’d been fouled and they led by two points when O’Leary added a point soon after.
[adrotate group=”37″]MacCumhaills had an earlier chance for a goal but Adam Lynch thumped against the crossbar.
But with Paddy O’Connor in sumptuous form, it was Liam Ward’s team who scored a useful win.
O’Connor was majestic throughout for the An Gaeltacht Lár representatives and it was they who led 0-6 to 1-2 at the short whistle with Ciaran Foy arching over late in the first half.
[adrotate group=”52″]O’Connor, with Michael McGlynn also on the mark, pulled away in the second half, but they could never get far enough to save them from sweating.
Late points by Conor McBride and O’Connor saved the day and gave MacCumhaills too much to do.
