ALAN O’Connell has returned to manage the St Eunan’s Senior Ladies after a year-long break from the role.
And the Eunan’s man has already attracted a number of former players back into the fold, and hoping more will follow.
“Our youth system has been very very good in recent years with a number of county titles,” says O’Connell.
“Like every other club we will see players leave for work or college and they don’t always come back because they may settle elsewhere in Ireland or abroad and that’s completely understandable.
The lovely thing about Ladies Football and the LGFA these days is that there are teams worldwide so we take pride when one of our former players pops up in a line-up in Dubai or Sydney or Auckland.
“This year however there’s definitely something different going on with more players staying or returning to the game. We have players who left, have had families and want to come back to football again which is great to see. It’s a fun environment with the Ladies here.
“We are also seeing interest from players from other counties who have settled here in Letterkenny through work at the hospital or Pramerica or Optum and places like that.
“Our message really to any player or former player living in the parishes in Letterkenny is that there is a welcome for you here at St Eunan’s Ladies, regardless of age or ability. They would be very welcome indeed.”
