NIAMH MCLAUGHLIN’S switch to the role of sweeper is one of the reasons Donegal ladies’ fortunes have soared with their first ever Ulster SFC now in the bag.
The Moville native (pictured above), whose father Davy is the manager of Donegal ladies, in striving in the role as her team face into the TG4 All-Irelannd quarter-final on Saturday against Armagh in Clones.
“In the past I’ve been a forward more often,” she said.”I play a sweeper role and I enjoy it because it gives me freedom. I enjoy playing it. The game has gone in defensive mode but it gives you another chance to get forward.”
