FORMER DOWNINGS and Gaeil Fhánada manager Kevin ‘Cookie’ Gallagher has been installed as the new manager of the Four Masters senior team.
The Downings native is a former Donegal minor and under-21 player.
He most recently managed Gaeil Fhánada in 2014 having won an All-Ireland Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta title with the Portsalon men in 2013.
He takes over at Four Masters from Ciaran ‘Dinky’ McBride, the former Tyrone player who managed them last year.
McBride stepped down before the end of the 2015 campaign, with the Tir Chonaill Park outfit relegated to Division 2 of the All-County Football League following a play-off defeat to Bundoran.
Gallagher will have a backroom team of John Kennedy (trainer/selector), Michael Breslin and Jack McGroarty (selectors), Rory O’Donnell (players rep/logistics), Ryan O’Donnell and Barry Dunnion (strength and conditioning).
“Congratulations to Kevin on being appointed senior manager,” a club statement said.
“The Four Masters club would like to wish Kevin and his backroom team and senior players every success in the season ahead.”
Charlie Gallagher will be manager of the Four Masters reserves in 2016, the club confirmed.
