LETTERKENNY’S CAITRIONA Jennings set a new Irish record on her way to a seventh place finish at the IAU 50km World Championships.
Jennings finished in three hours, 19 minutes and 49 seconds.
The time was enough for the Hawthorn Heights native to finish seventh in the gruelling ultra running event in Brasov, Romania.
Jennings, who competed in the women’s marathon at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, set new Donegal, Ulster and Irish records with her time.
The women’s race was won by Great Britain’s Alyson Dixon in 3:07:20.
Another Briton, Helen Davis, was second in 3:09:16 while Alicia Perez of Spain (3:15:09) was third.
