THE WITHDRAWAL of Pettigo from the Junior A Football Championship has forced the Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) into conducting a new draw.
Pettigo confirmed in writing to the Donegal County Board that they would not be participating in the Junior A Championship.
The border club had been drawn in a three-team group alongside Moville and Letterkenny Gaels.
Their decision means that there are ten remaining teams in the Junior A Championship and the CCC have confirmed that a new draw will be made.
The next meeting of the Donegal County Committee is not scheduled until Monday-week, September 2, just five days before the Junior A Championship was due to get underway.
Pettigo won the Junior B Championship in 2018 – their first Championship success since 1953 – but their already-light panel has been hit hard by a spate of recent injuries.
