Neve Scanlon plays as Irish Schools defeat England to win John Read Cup

Neve Scanlon was in goal for the Republic of Ireland Under-15 Schools team as they won the John Read Cup.

A 2-1 win over England at the AUL Complex in Dublin saw the Irish team take the silverware.

Lagan Harps woman Scanlon, a student at Deele College in Raphoe, was the Irish goalkeeper for the win.

Ireland took the lead in the 23^rd minute as Zara Foley’s free-kick caught out Williamson, the England goalkeeper.

England drew level when Jess Brown fired home from close range, but Ireland scored a dramatic win when Sophie Liston riffled home in injury time.
