LETTERKENNY Institute of Technology ladies suffered an agonising defeat in today’s Higher Education Div 4 League final.

It was LyIT who registered the first goal when Emma McMahon burst through the middle to find the net.
However LyIT found themselves 2-6 to 1-2 down twenty minutes later.
Nicole Gordon closed the gap with a brilliant individual solo run resulting in a goal along with points from Grainne O’Neill to bring the game level with three minutes remaining in the first half.
A late rally from MICL have them a 3-9 to 2-6 half time lead.
Points from Emma McMahon and one from Clodagh Brennan closed the gap to three and Katie Long struck goal to tie the game with 15 minutes to go.
MICL were awarded a penalty with eight minutes remaining to go three ahead.
LyIT pressed for the remainder having goal opportunities the best when Julie Trearty had an effort drive off the crossbar.
It was a superb game of football for the neutral, but it wasn’t to for the LyIT ladies this time.
