NAOMH MUIRE GOT their first points of the AllSportStore.com Division 2 with a narrow two-point margin against Cloughaneely at the Banks.

Cloughaneely – for whom Darren Ferry scored six points in all – started the better and with support of the breeze, went into a two-point lead. Naomh Muire responded with two goals from Patrick Gillespie. The midfielder got into the square on both occasions and got on the end of two rebounds to finish them to the net. Cloughaneely scored two more points to Naomh Muire’s one.
The visitors then got four without reply to go one up and Shaun Yank Boyle and Darren Ferry with his fifth for Cloughaneely exchanged points to leave Cloughaneely leading by one at half-time, 0-9 to 2-2.
Shaun Yank Boyle scored the first point of the second half and this was followed by a goal for Padraig McCafferty, to put the home side a goal in front. Cloughaneely fought back with three points to draw level. A further two points each were exchanged by the 50th minute to leave the sides level with 10 to play.
Naomh Muire got two further points through Robbie O’Donnell and Darragh White. Cloughaneely fought to the end but could not get through the tight Naomh Muire defence. Naomh Muire will be hoping to build on the victory after a poor start to the league.
