NAOMH Conaill have paid tribute to former club president Phil ‘Phildy’ Gallagher, who died on Thursday.
Phil, late of Buncrubog, Glenties, was an ever-present at Naomh Conaill and Donegal games.
“Naomh Conaill was his club & his pride and joy,” the club said.
“He loved being President and was a proud man when the Dr Maguire came to the parish, along with any other trophy.
“Phil was a former assistant secretary and assistant treasurer, along with with being a club volunteer, and was made an honorary member of the club.
“His infectious laugh and great sense of humour lifted your spirits anytime you met him and he will be sorely missed around the community.”
“‘Phildy’ was a former postman and done his job with a smile everyday. His seat at the steps of the clubhouse will be empty now, but his smile and laugh will be an ever present in our minds.”
Predeceased by his daughter Patricia, Phil is sadly missed by his lovely wife Nora, sons Terence, Patrick and Philip. daughters Margaret, Ann, Noreen, Mary T, Kathleen, Breda and Carol, daughters-in-law, sons in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and many friends.
Funeral Mass at 1pm on Sunday (16th) in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties with interment afterwards in the local cemetery.
Due to HSE and government guidelines the wake and funeral is for family only with a maximum of 50 people permitted.
