NAOMH CONAILL maintained their 100 per cent record in topping Group 2 of the RTE Raidió na Gaeltachta SFC with a seven-point win in Ardara.
Ardara 1-9 Naomh Conaill 2-13
Martin Regan’s side already had top spot in the group assured, as John McConnell’s team knew no matter what they managed at home it wouldn’t be enough for them to avoid the relegation play-offs.
Conor Classon goaled inside of the first minute for Ardara but Naomh Conaill soon found their rhythm, kicking the next five points through Seamus Corcoran, Leon Thompson, Dermot Molloy, John O’Malley and Daragh Gallagher.
Having lost Stephen Molloy to injury, Naomh Conaill’s O’Malley netted on 22 minutes when he shot past Declan Gallagher after an assist from Leon Thompson.
Ardara, with Stefan Boyle and Peter Oliver McNelis on the mark, trailed 1-6 to 1-3 at half-time.
Naomh Conaill gave Ardara with a taste of their own medicine when Gallagher drove their second goal right at the start of the second half, finishing off a pass from Ciaran Thompson.
However, Leon Thompson was dismissed on 41 minutes, getting a straight red for a shove but the 14 men were in control towards the finish with Corcoran and Dermot Molloy knocking over scores late on.
