Naomh Conaill held their annual 5k Road Race Fun Run/Walk this evening and proved to be a very successful and enjoyable evening, despite the weather.
Over 100 runners and walkers participated and all enjoyed the route set around the town of Glenties, starting and finishing at the local GAA club. This year the club were delighted to have Kennedys Bar and Restaurant as the sponsor of the 5K, and on their behalf, Kieran Kennedy was on hand to present the prizes.
Letterkenny A.C. athlete Ciaran Doherty was first home in the Men’s section in an impressive time of 15.29 and Rosses A.C. athlete Helen Mc Cready was first in the Ladies section posting a time of 22.19.Molly Gallagher from Ardara was first home in the under 16 girls in 24.27 and Daniel Gildea was first in the boys under 16 section in 21.06.
After the race, all the participants were very well looked after in the clubhouse with the local ladies home baking. A huge thank you to all who helped in the kitchen and to those who baked for the race. A big thank you also goes out to everyone who helped in any way to making the evening a success, especially the local GardaÃ, Marshalls and those who helped with registration.
There was no winner of this week’s Gaa lotto and the numbers drawn out were 9-15-21-24. The €50×2 went to Joseph Martin, Ardara and Daniel Bonner, Glen Road, Next week’s jackpot will be €2,200.
Names for tickets will be taken For the Donegal vs Galway game on Thursday evening from 7-7.30pm in the Clubhouse.
Well done to the under-10s, who had a great day at Truagh Gaels competition in Monaghan, where they performed very well. Special thanks to Rosaleen and Mark McDevitt who kindly sponsored the meal for the squad. And thanks to Truagh Gaels for a well organised competition.
