MILFORD WERE THIS evening presented with the Centra Supermarkets All-County Football League Division 3 trophy in the Mulroy Woods Hotel.
Burt were unable to field for this afternoon’s fixture but the team managed by Shaun Paul Barrett had already confirmed their crown with a win over Letterkenny Gaels last week.
Milford captain Christopher Barrett (pictured above) collected the trophy on behalf of his team.
Elsewhere, first half goals from Conor McBrearty and Brendan O’Brien paved the way for a much needed two points for Letterkenny Gaels this afternoon at Pairc na nGael against Aodh Ruadh.
The Glebe based side confirmed their Division 3 status with a 2-6 to 0-5 win.
Playing with the breeze in the opening half Gaels went in at the break with an eight point advantage.
Gaels other scores came from Ciaran and Cormac Cannon with McBrearty adding the other three. Aodh Ruadh’s scores coming from the accurate boot of Diarmuid McInerney.
Aodh Rua did press hard in the opening minutes of the second half but Gaels keeper Shane Graham excellent save made sure that the visitors were not going to be rewarded. O’Brien and McBrearty added scores in the second half while Damien Cleary and veteran Val Murray replied for the visitors.
Also in Division 3, Naomh Colmcille beat Downings 2-14 to 3-7, so the Newtowncunningham side will now face Carndonagh in the promotion-relegation play-off with the loser confined to Division 4 with an already relegated Red Hugh’s next season.
