Our Seniors and Reserves are back in Intermediate Football Championship action this Saturday at Burt, Hibernian Park, Saturday at 5.30 and 7pm.
Both teams played league games at the weekend after a lengthy absence with the Seniors winning and Reserves drawing against Letterkenny Gaels. In the previous group game against Bundoran our Reserves were defeated by just one point while the Seniors battled back well in the last ten minutes but ultimately lost by four points.
Burt Reserves defeated Naomh Brid by 14 points in their group opener, but with their Seniors going down by 3 against the Ballintra men it makes this a must win game for both sides. Throw in times are 5.30pm and 7pm on Saturday and all support greatly appreciated.
Ladies All Ireland quarter-final
Good luck to our own Amber Barrett and the rest of the Donegal Senior Ladies who take on Armagh in Clones on Saturday in the All Ireland Quarter Final. The Ladies will be out for revenge having lost to Armagh in the League Final and will be well motivated having beaten kingpins Monaghan in the Ulster Final.
Throw in in Clones is at 12.30pm and the game will also be broadcast live on TG4. The best of luck to all the players and management.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Club Secretary Tracy Peoples and Peter on the birth of their son Ryan last month! We look forward to seeing Ryan donning the blue and navy and hopefully even the green and gold in years to come!
Good Luck!
Good luck to Dean Boyce who has moved to Dubai to teach English. Dean has been a great volunteer for the Club coaching many age groups and this year he was involved in the U16s as well as being the Clubs Assistant Secretary. All at the Club wish Dean well on his adventures
Seniors
CLG BnaG 0-14 Letterkenny Gaels 1-9
The Seniors maintained their winning streak on Saturday night with a hard fought victory over Letterkenny Gaels. It was a battle of a game and Na Galloglaigh came out the other end with a precious two point win through some magnificent heart and fighting spirit.
Christopher Barrett pointed twice in the opening few minutes, each time responded to by a Gaels point, before in the last ten minutes Gaels began to get on top and opened a 0-6 to 0-2 lead through some fine shooting. The boys battled back well to get within a point when on 23 minutes Gavin Grier was deemed to have fouled a Gaels forward inside the box, from which Gaels scored a penalty to put them 4 points clear once again.
Things got worse for Na Galloglaigh when a high ball into the box in the 27th minute saw Cathal Mc Gettigan come together with a Gaels defender for a 50/50 ball but the referee deemed it a trip and issued Cathal a black card. Again the boys battled back from this setback to leave the half time score 0-7 to 1-6.
Gaels opened the scoring straight away in the second half, in what transpired to be a high intensity and exciting half of football. With Cathal McGettigan sidelined the mantle of free taking fell to first half substitute Luke Barrett who scored 4 sublime points. At the other end of the pitch the defence was rock solid and provided many a foundation for an attack. In fact apart from their score in the opening minute of the half the Gaels failed to score again until the 59th minute.
Excellent work rate and heart seen the boys eventually go 3 points clear as the game entered the final stages, but the Gaels never stopped battling either. After 5 minutes of injury time the final whistle went with the scoreline at 0-14 to 1-9 and Na Galloglaigh went home with two points in the bag, to leave them currently 7 points clear at the top of division 3 with the majority of teams playing tomorrow. Next up for the boys is a Intermediate Championship clash away to Burt next Saturday.
Team: Sean Gallagher, Kieran Sheridan, Sean Black, Gary Merritt (0-1), Tj Evesson, Enda McHugh, Gavin Grier (0-1), Jonny Logue, Joey Cullen, Kyle Black (0-1), Christopher Barrett (0-2), Kieran Mc Laughlin, Paddy Peoples, Cathal McGettigan (0-4), Pauric Curley (0-1). Subs: Luke Barrett (0-4) for McLaughlin (25m), Adam Serrinha for McGettigan (27m, BC), Barry McNulty, Conor McNulty, Dean Burgess, Paul Grier
Reserves
CLG BnaG 3-10 Letterkenny Gaels 4-7
The Reserves never really got into any rhythm on Saturday against a fit young Letterkenny Gaels side that was full of running.
In the end they were rather fortunate to come away with the draw, but like the Seniors showed some great battling qualities to never lie down, tying the game up in the final seconds. Like the Seniors the Reserves are also in Championship action next week when they travel to take on Burt in Hibernian Park.
Team: Gavin McFadden, Shay Durning, Paul Grier, Cormac Toland, Brandon Toye (1-0), Dean Burgess (1-2), Ryan Ferry, Barry McNulty, Paul Fisher (0-2), Hugh McMenamin (0-1), Emmet Conaghan, James Whelan (0-1), Conor McNulty, Dylan Hegarty, (1-0), Adam Serrinha (0-3). Subs: Ciaran McHugh (0-1) for Conaghan (HT), Cathal Diver for Toland (45m), Paddy Mc Carron for McMenamin (48m), Cormac Friel for Durning (50m)
U-21 Championship QF
CLG BnaG 1-10 Ardara 0-15
Our U21s went out of the Championship last Wednesday evening at the hands of a physical and decent Ardara side.
The boys resisted heavy pressure in the opening period and thanks to a Kyle Black goal they were level after 15 minutes. A high ball into the full forward line was broken by Dylan Hegarty and Kyle reacted quickest to finish soccer style to the net, and added a point himself to leave the score 1-1 to 0-4 after the first quarter.
It was fairly tit for tat for a period after that before Ardara stretched their lead to 2 points before they had a man sent off on 27 minutes. Na Galloglaigh finished the half well and a point from Kane Barrett left the game level at half time 1-4 to 0-7. Ardara began the second half well and scored 2 frees in the opening minutes before a few minutes later Gavin Grier had to make a great clearance off the line. At times Ardara didn’t look to be a man down as they used the ball very well and were very clinical in attack. Nevertheless the boys kept battling and were never out of sight in the game, thanks to some superb free taking from Cathal Mc Gettigan.
They struggled to win kick outs from both ends against a very big and strong Ardara team compared to the young Na Galloglaigh outfit. When the the blues ran at the Ardara defence they were very had to stop and Hegarty had a good goal chance well saved midway through the half. Kyle Black also had a half decent goal chance late in the game but unfortunately it wasn’t to be for the boys this evening and they ran out a disappointing, but respectable, second best by 1-10 to 0-15.
Team: Sean Gallagher, Patrick Ferry, Sean Black, Shay Durning, Adam Serrinha, Kieran Sheridan, Emmet Conaghan, Luke Trearty, Caolan Bolton, Hugh Mc Menamin, Cathal McGettigan (0-6), Kyle Black (1-2), Dylan Hegarty, Kane Barrett (0-2), Gavin Grier. Subs: Martin Doyle for McMenamin (35m), Gavin McFadden, Ryan Mcmahon

Minor Championship Northern SF
CLG BnaG 1-12 Red Hughs 1-7
Our Minors blitzed Red Hughs with 1-4 in the space of 4 minutes on Monday evening to see them advance to the Northern Final where they will play Cloughaneely.
It was a slow game to get going with both teams adopting a defensive approach and after ten minutes the score was only 0-2 to 0-1 to the visitors, Connor Gormley with Na Galloglaighs score. Red Hughs only had one wide in the first half and scored 4 unanswered points in the middle of the half, while at the other end their defense was very organised. A point from Luke Trearty, and one from Cormac Toland right at the end of the half, left the boys needing a hugely improved second half performance if they were to have any chance to progress, with the scoreline 0-6 to 0-3.
The second half also took a while to get going and Na Galloglaigh looked panicky at times as they tried to reduce the deficit. Adam Serrinha got the first score of the half but this was almost immediately cancelled out by a Red Hughs point. However the boys kept chipping away at the Red Hughs lead and two points from Gormley and another from Serrinha tied the game up with 11 minutes remaining.
Na Galloglaigh completed the turnaround when they scored 1-4 from the 56th to 59th minutes through scores from Serrinha, Gormley and Gavin Grier while Serrinha also fisted home a hand pass from Grier to put 7 between the sides as we approached full time. Red Hughs were awarded a consolation penalty in the 65th minute to narrow the gap somewhat yet Connor Gomley still had time to notch his 5th point with the last kick of the game to leave the final score 1-12 to 1-7.
Na Galloglaigh now take on Cloughaneely in the Northern Final on Friday evening after they defeated Convoy by 2 points in Falcarragh, the time and venue for this final TBC.
Team: Gavin McFadden, Andreas Afxentiou, Kieran Sheridan, Odhrán Coll, Shay Durning, Ronan Docherty, Cormac Toland (0-1), Ryan Mcmahon, Luke Trearty (0-1), Martin Doyle, Connor Gormley (0-5), Conor Mc Hugh, Gavin Grier (0-1), Adam Serrinha (1-4), Shane McNamee. Subs: Ryan Spike Flood for Doyle (53m), Ryan Toye for McHugh (58m), Dane Dunworth for McNamee (59m), Paddy Mc Carron for Coll (60m), Hayden Curran, Jamie-Lee Blaney

U-12 Parish League
The U12 Parish League was played as part of the official opening for the pitches on Sunday, and certainly produced a super Sunday of football. The winning team was captaining by Shane Black, but with the final game heading into injury time, any one of the three teams could have won it, but two late points changed the destination of the trophy.
The winning team was Dylan McGarry, Ordhran Doherty, Owen McElhinney, Aiden Ferry, Shane Black, Alec McConigley and Oran Friel. As part of the entertainment an U12 crossbar challenge then took place, and after a very exciting sudden death finale between Callum Ferguson, Tony Curran and Killian McBride, Callum Ferguson kept his composure to win the title
