MILFORD got off to a winning start in Group A of the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure Sports IFC with a comprehensive win against Carndonagh last evening.
Milford 2-15 Carndonagh 0-3
The home side at Moyle View registered 17 scores and also had 17 wides in a game they dominated from start to finish, with Cathal McGettigan scoring 1-8 in all.
Playing against a strong enough breeze in the first half Milford got some lovely scores when they moved the ball quick, including a nice goal from Christopher Barrett after a great team move.
McGettigan got the second goal from the penalty spot after a Joey Cullen goal chance was picked off the ground in the small square. This left the boys in a commanding half time lead of 2-8 to 0-2.
[adrotate group=”47″]The team managed by Danny O’Donnell were guilty of taking the foot off the pedal in the second half and at times were wasteful and took the wrong shot option, but all in all played very well and maintained the workrate they have shown all season with some great defending on their own 45.
