GLENSWILLY MADE IT two home wins from two with Michael Murphy helping his team to a fuss-free win over Dungloe this afternoon.
Glenswilly 1-15 Dungloe 0-6
The Donegal skipper was in excellent form throughout and finished the day with 1-8 to his name having posted 1-7 last week in the defeat of St Michael’s after their opening day loss at St Eunan’s. On the flipside, Dungloe remain pointless following earlier losses against both Cloughaneely and Gaoth Dobhair.
Glenswilly started with intent and by the 10th minute were 0-4 to 0-2 in front with Murphy posting three points and Caoimhin Marley also scoring. Dungloe’s two points at that stage came from Ryan Connors frees.
By half-time, the home side, now under the guise of Brendan Walsh, were 0-8 to 0-4 in front with Murphy scoring six in all, three of them on the turn as Glenswilly went long when the chance arose.
Murphy added another score right after the restart as the rain pelted down and then, five minutes into the second half scored the only goal of the game when he slapped past Ciaran Sharkey, the Dungloe goalkeeper, from close range following Brian Farrelly’s raking ball in.
That made the score 1-9 to 0-4 and with Glenswilly holding a sound defensive shape, Dungloe made few inroads. Murphy was denied a second goal when his piledriver was well saved by Sharkey.
With the contest all but over, Glenswilly kept the scoreboard ticking over with Gary McFadden scoring four times in all and Ciaran Bonner adding a brace.
