TOKYO bound Mona McSharry eased her way to victory in the 100m breastroke final at the irish Irish Olympic Trials.
McSharry, going out of lane 4, won in 1:08.92, gliding her was through the final.
McSharry beat off Niamh Coyne, who finished in 1:09.08.
Yesterday, McSharry broke the Irish record twice on a day when she secured the qualifying time for the Olympic Games.
McSharry’s first effort of 1:06.97 in her heat saw her beat the Olympic qualifying standard.
The time was lowered again to 1:06.29 in the semi-final – the seventh fastest time in the world of this current Olympic cycle.
Last autumn, McSharry moved to take up a scholarship at the University of Tennessee and was in excellent form earlier this year Stateside.
Later this week, McSharry also goes in the 200m breaststroke.
